The Day After Tomorrow

I’m still waiting for the sudden realization that this is not a normal time to dawn upon the “intelligentsia”. I wait and wait, but to no avail. The morning shows continue to debate the true nature of the Trump Regime and what it means to the country, how the Democrats are not stepping up and where are the Republicans? Oh my.

These are not normal times and there is nothing the Democrats can do to stop Trump. The Courts are the final barrier to his plans and they will be swept away soon enough. When the time comes, he'll ignore the courts just like he’s ignored Congress. The predicate has been established. According to him only he and the AG are able to determine the legitimacy of a law. As I’ve written here and elsewhere, he’ll ignore the first judgment that goes against him. He’ll have his Congressional supporters to give him some justifications - but it’ll be unnecessary because he’s just going to move ahead with his agenda regardless.

And then it’s done, American Constitutional democracy will be finished. And then what? Whatever he wants.

Now people will roll their eyes and say, “There they go again, chicken little has come home to roost. But ask yourself, who’s going to stop him? He’s already asked that protestors be shot by American troops - only in the legs ( as an aside I only remembered asking my father, an orthopedic surgeon, if people could be safely shot in the legs as a young boy - I guess it’s a simplistic trope, after I heard this from Trump. He really does operate on a 10 year old boy level). He’ll do it again and this time there will be people willing to carry out his orders.
